Shawn Meze

Shawn first started SCCA Solo2 in '94 with a stock 82 Scirocco. The car migrated from DSP to FSP over a period of six years and culminated with a National Finals showing in Topeka Kansas during 2000. In 2001, he switched to a C4 Corvette in Solo2 SS and won the local SDR Championship. For 2002, the car moved to AS and the overall season win was repeated For 2003, Shawn returned to the Solo2 scene in his 84' Scirocco and ran part of the season in SM. 2004 was a new attempt at Solo2 G Stock class in his wife's Beetle Turbo S. Also in 2004 Shawn participated in his first One Lap of America Race in an 04' Subaru STI and finished with a respectable 3rd in class and 13th overall. For 2005 Shawn has joined NASA and in his first outing, won a championship in the new Time Trial series running his 80 Scirocco in the TTE class. In 2006, Shawn again battled in TTE locally, and in September, made the trek to Mid Ohio and participated in the first ever NASA National Championship where he sat on the podium in 2 classes, PTE and also in TTE. For 2007, Shawn will make a showing in the Enduro Series in his VR6 Jetta as well as competing in TTE and PTE in his Scirocco.

Mike Potter

Mike got started in SCCA Solo II back in '93 and has been involved in that with various VW's ever since. He took second place in ES in '98 and first in GS in '01, both in the competitive San Diego region. He has driven 1 Lap of America twice, taking second in class in '00 and has instructed with Tracquest and Racer Factory since '99. Of course, he also breathes VWs every day over at Virtual World Parts!

Diane Cadenhead

Diane, like her husband Bill, started VW competition in air-cooled days and has been a consistent winner in both regional and national events. From a Type 3 to a Scirocco to a Bug and finally a Rabbit, she has run in Solo 2 stock classes & E-Production, consistently posting higher times than many (or all) of the men in her class! To this day, she remains active in amateur motorsports by instructing with Racer Factory and other groups around the SoCal area.

Bill Cadenhead

Bill got started with VW's and racing way back in 1959 with a beautiful 36 hp Bug. Not satisfied with the performance, he immediately went to the Porsche parts bin to get an edge on the track and didn?t look back. Over the years, he has taken countless San Diego and LA region SCCA championships and even took the EP Pro-Solo National Championship in a ?67 Bug. Having campaigned both air-cooled and water-cooled VW?s in almost every class possible over his long career, 5-6 cars in almost every category, Bill and his wife Diane have been instructing for Racer Factory since our inception in 2001.

Tom Grossmann

Tom started Road Racing motorcycles in 1986, primarily 125cc GP and some 250CC GP. In '89, he started Auto crossing with the Vegas Region of SCCA and gave up motorcycles for good in 1991, switching to SCCA regional road races. Since that time, he has run a variety of classes including Showroom Stock, Improved Touring , Formula Vee and D-Sports Racer and has 1000's of laps under his belt in a variety of vehicles.

In addition to working with Racer Factory, he has been instructing at SCCA Las Vegas Region Performance Driving Schools, with Viper Club track days and at the SCCA Autocross ground school.

Julie Pearson

Julie discovered the world of track driving just 4 years ago with the purchase of her first Audi, of which she now owns 5! She attends as many track sessions at as many tracks as possible and also competes regularly in SM in San Diego region SCCA.

Julie also co-drives with husband Craig in the Mojave Desert Racing Series in their championship Sportsman Class truck. In addition to instructing for Racer Factory, Julie has recently been invited to instruct for the Audi Club of North America.

Hal Pemstein

Besides his extensive experience with both teaching and racing, Hal currently owns the San Diego Region GS championship '98 VR6 GTI that was driven co-driven with Mike Potter to second place overall in 2002.

Jim Tilley

Jim is only in his third year of active racing, but holds SCCA National, NASA and BMW CCA Club Racing licenses. Additionally, he is rated as an instructor with NASA and has taught for both NASA and SCCA over the last year. Jim holds the SSB track record at SMMP, finished 3rd nationally in SSB for the Southern Pacific Region last year and had a National win at Pacific International Raceway in Seattle. For 2003, he is currently 2nd in the overall points standings in the NASA Western Region Spec Miata Challenge.

Kris Valdez

Kris regularly runs with the Porsche Owners Club in their time trial events, as well as the CRS Rally School and SCCA Club Racing. He is also co-owner of Dynamic Racing Solutions, a VW shop that specializes in engine conversions & dyno testing in addition to routine maintenance and service work. For the last year, they have been managing the engine tuning program for Hagestad Racing's all-Jetta team in Speedvision World Challenge.

Ron Wood

Ron started rallying in '87 with a Scirocco 1 in 2wd open class and finished in the top five for season points from '88 to '92, winning the California Rally Series 2WD championship in 1993. Totalling the Scirocco in 1994, Ron & navigator Kelly started construction of the much-fabled Audi Coupe Quattro for the 1995 season and didn't look back. Again finishing in the top five in the CRS series from '95 to '99, they won the SCCA SoPac 4WD Open Championship in '97.

Rallying (instead of track racing) offered several benefits to draw Ron in. Primarily, it was something that he & Kelly could both compete in. Due it's diversity of roads & ever changing conditions, it can easily be said that it offers the most challenges to a driver and navigator. As a bonus, rally cars are street registered and it's a lot of fun to tear around with 300+ hp on the street!! Ron is also the wizard behind VW Specialties.

Robert Zeller

Robert got started with instruction through the Audi Car Club of North America (formally Quattro Club) back in 2000 and has experience with FWD, RWD and quattro cars. He has instructed with Racer Factory off & on since 2001 and for Speed Ventures, covering most of the tracks in California. He current autocrosses in SCCA GS category with his Audi A4 and HS in an Audi 4000.
